Alessandro de Marchi

The conductor Alessandro de Marchi is regarded as a leading specialist for period performance, whether on historic or modern instruments. With a repertoire ranging from late Renaissance to contemporary music, he is in demand at Europe’s foremost opera houses. Tours have taken him to Canada, Australia, South America and Japan. Since 1998 Alessandro de Marchi has directed the Baroque orchestra Academia Montis Regalis and the affiliated youth orchestra Giovanni dell’AMR. In 2009 de Marchi succeeded René Jacobs as artistic director of the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music. At the Semperoper he has previously conducted Hasse’s »Cleofide«, Handel’s »Giulio Cesare « and Rossini’s »Il barbiere di Siviglia«.
