Vladimir Jurowski

In recent years Vladimir Jurowski has been a regular guest conductor of the Staatskapelle. The son of conductor Michail Jurowski, he studied in his hometown of Moscow, as well as in Dresden and Berlin. His first major position was at the German capital’s Komische Oper, before he gained further international prominence by becoming music director of Britain’s prestigious Glyndebourne Festival in 2001. In 2007 he was appointed the new principal conductor to London’s Philharmonic Orchestra, and today is invited to work with all the world’s foremost symphony orchestras and opera companies. Following highly acclaimed performances of Dmitri Shostakovich’s Fourth Symphony in January 2011, Vladimir Jurowski now returns to Dresden to conduct the Staatskapelle at a premiere of a requiem by Capell-Compositrice Lera Auerbach.
