He went on to study oboe at Dresden’s College of Music, where he subsequently taught from 1975 to 2005. After holding the post of principal oboist with Meiningen’s Hofkapelle, he played for the Staatskapelle Berlin and the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra before joining the Staatskapelle in 1982, where he was principal oboist until 2008. In addition to his orchestral duties, Andreas Lorenz is also an enthusiastic chamber musician.
