

A graduate of Weimar’s College of Music and a prize-winner at international competitions, Andreas Wylezol gained his first important orchestral experience as principal double bass with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, leading to his appointment in 1989 to the same position with the Staatskapelle. In subsequent years Wylezol has appeared as a soloist with the Kapelle as well as other leading ensembles, under conductors such as Giuseppe Sinopoli and Sir Colin Davis. He is also a founding member of Claudio Abbado’s Lucerne Festival Orchestra and since 2007 has performed with the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra.
