Bernhard Kury | Flute

Bernhard Kury was born in the small Austrian town of Trieben. He studied music at Graz Conservatory, as well as physics at the city’s Technical University, before moving to Vienna in 1992 for a year of tuition under Wolfgang Schulz. In 1997 he began a post-graduate course at Berlin’s University of the Arts under Roswitha Staege. A one-time member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, Kury held positions with Berlin’s Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra before, in 1998, joining the ranks of the Staatskapelle as co-principal flautist. He has taught at Dresden’s College of Music since 2001, and since 2005 has been a member of Bayreuth’s Festival Orchestra.
