Daniel Behle | Tenor

After studying trombone and composition, Daniel Behle completed his studies in voice with distinction at the University of Music and Theatre in Hamburg. He won first prize at several prestigious vocal competitions, among them the Robert Stolz competition and the Queen Sonja International Music Competition in Oslo. He has become well-known to a wider audience ever since the release of the award-winning recording of Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte" under René Jacobs in September 2010 for his interpretation of Tamino. The tenor has also made a name for himself as a Lied singer and works with pianists such as Sveinung Bjelland or Oliver Schnyder. Daniel Behle has appeared at the leading European opera houses, including Milan's La Scala, the Vienna State Opera, the Bavarian State Opera and the Royal Opera in Stockholm. In the 2011/12 season he can be heard with recitals at the Cuvilliés Theater Munich, Laeiszhalle Hamburg and at the Schwetzingen Festival, for instance.
In December 2011 he makes his debut with the Staatskapelle Dresden under the baton of Christian Thielemann in Bach's "Christmas Oratorio".
