»This young man not only has the makings of one of the great pianists of the century. He already is.« The opinion of Eleonore Büning in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung of May 2010 is only one of the many rave reviews by leading critics to have acclaimed the youthful Igor Levit. Born in Gorky in 1987, Levit studied under Karl-Heinz Kämmerling and Hans Leygraf. He quickly found the spotlight with prizes at the International Arthur Rubinstein Competition in Israel as well as the Hamamatsu Piano Competition in Japan. In the meantime he has performed with numerous top conductors and orchestras. Now he will perform for the first time with the Staatskapelle as a soloist at the International Shostakovich Festival in Gohrisch.
