Julia Fischer | Violin

Born in Munich in 1983 to German-Slovak parents, Julia Fischer is one of the world’s leading violinists. One decisive milestone in a spectacular career came when she took 1st prize at the international Yehudi Menuhin Competition in 1995, under the direction of the legendary American violinist himself. This was capped the following year by winning the 8th Eurovision Competition for Young Instrumentalists. Since then Julia Fischer has performed with countless star conductors and the world’s foremost ensembles. In 2007 she was named »Artist of the Year« at the Gramophone Awards, and in 2009 received the same title at the MIDEM Classical Award Ceremony in Cannes. One career highlight is her debut at the Salzburg Easter Festival of 2011, when Ms Fischer performes Glazunov’s Violin Concerto with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
