Sergei Nakariakov | Trumpet

Sergei Nakariakov has shattered more than one supposed barrier between the various genres of trumpet performance. The press have named him the »Paganini« and »Caruso« of the trumpet, pointing to Nakariakov’s unique and boundless virtuosity, combined with a seemingly inexhaustible versatility in tonal range. His repertoire goes beyond original pieces for trumpet to include numerous transcriptions previously regarded as unplayable on this instrument. Born in 1977, Nakariakov quickly abandoned his piano lessons in favour of the trumpet. In the meantime he is a regular and popular performer on the international concert stage. At the International Shostakovich Festival he will play for the first time with the Staatskapelle.
