Yuja Wang | Piano

Born in 1987 in Beijing, Yuja Wang studied in her homecountry and then went to Canada and the U.S., where she successfully finished her studies at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia under Gary Graffman. Only a short time later, in 2005, her debut took place at the National Arts Center in Ottawa, followed by invitations to the most important concert halls in the U.S.
In Europe, she is currently one of the most popular pianists and has performed with a number of cherished orchestras, e.g. the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Orchestra de Paris as well as with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Her concerts were conducted by some of the most significant conductors, Charles Dutoit, Lorin Mazeel or Daniel Barenboim, just to name a few.
But with her impressive performance of Sergej Prokofjwes Third Piano Concerto under Claudio Abbado at the Lucerne Festival in 2009, she made sure that there is not only one Chinese piano genius.
