Matthias Wollong

1st Concertmaster

Matthias Wollong was born in Berlin in 1968 and began taking violin lessons at age five. After studying at the special school for music in Berlin, Werner Scholz accepted him into his master class in 1984.

From 1987 till 1989, Matthias Wollong studied with legendary violinist and teacher Tibor Varga in Switzerland. He concertized in Germany, France and Switzerland as concertmaster and soloist of the Tibor Varga Chamber Orchestra during this time. His studies ended after he won the violin competition named after his teacher.

He has been honored with numerous other awards, including first prize of the Joseph Joachim Competition in Austria.

Matthias Wollong has appeared as a soloist under such prominent conductors as Heinz Wallberg, Adam Fischer, Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos, Marek Janowski and Sir Colin Davis, and orchestras such as the ORF Symphony Orchestra, the RSO Berlin, Staatskapelle Dresden, Staatskapelle Weimar, and Philharmonic orchestras in Suhl, Halle, Cottbus etc.

He has been first concertmaster of the Staatskapelle Dresden since 1999, after holding the same position with the RSO Berlin from 1991 till 1999. Since summer 2001, he has also been first concertmaster at the Bayreuth Festival.

He has also led tours and concerts as conductor of the German Chamber Orchestra and the New Berlin Chamber Orchestra. He has appeared with the Cairo Symphony Orchestra and has led projects of the Staatskapelle Dresden (evening performances), the Berlin Youth String Orchestra and the Stringendo Zurich Orchestra.

Matthias Wollong has received great acclaim for his many radio and CD productions, including the entire works for violin and piano of Swiss composer Ottmar Schoeck and a recording of Ernst Bloch's Violin Concerto with Vladimir Jurowski and the RSO Berlin.

He teaches as professor at the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar, Germany. Matthias Wollong plays an Andreas Guarneri violin from 1676.

Yuki Manuela Janke

1st Concertmaster

Born into a family of musicians in Munich, her career began at an early age. Her breakthrough came at the latest with numerous prizes at the Sarasate, Paganini and Tchaikovsky competitions, which quickly took her to the world's most important stages as a soloist. As a soloist and chamber musician, Yuki Manuela Janke also inspires as concertmaster of the most traditional orchestras. Her interpretation of Richard Strauss' "Heldenleben" in the Golden Hall in Vienna with the Staatskapelle Dresden and Christian Thielemann attracted particular attention.
As concertmaster of the Staatskapelle Berlin, she enjoys the trust of conductors such as Daniel Barenboim and Zubin Mehta. She is a regular guest with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, the Leipzig Gewandhaus

Orchestra and various orchestras abroad. She received her most important musical impulses from Igor Ozim at the Mozarteum Salzburg and through chamber music collaborations with Christoph Eschenbach, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, the Hagen Quartet and the Tokyo String Quartet. Her broad repertoire ranges from baroque and romantic music to contemporary composers such as Jörg Widmann, Wolfgang Rihm, Krzysztof Meyer, Nicolas Bacri and Markus Schmitt. Her repertoire also includes forgotten works such as Franz Clement's Violin Concerto, which Janke recorded with Reinhard Goebel and the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra. She plays on a violin by Robert König & Michael Betcher.

Florian Richter got his first lessons for violin at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater »Felix Mendelsson Bartholdy« in Leipzig with Professor Klaus Hertel. In 2000 he changed to the viola and one year later he moved at the music high school »Schloss Belvedere« in Weimar in the class of Professor Erich Krüger.

He studied at the »Hochschule für Franz Liszt Weimar« as a multiple Federal Prize winner of »Jugend Musiziert« with Professor Ditter Leser and Professor Erich Krüger and completed his education with the concert exam.

 

Florian Richter was scholarship holder of Hans und Eugenia Jütting Stiftung, Deutschen Stiftung Musikleben and der Carl Flesch Akademie. As a soloist he played for example under the direction of Johannes Klumpp, Helmuth Rilling, Stefan Solyom, Michael Sanderling und Marek Janowski. He was solo violist at Staatskapelle Weimar 2010 to 2012 and also at Staatsorchester Stuttgart 2012 to 2017.

Until 2017 he was also active at the music high school »Schloss Belvedere« in Weimar for young viola players.

Since October 2017 Florian Richter has been professor for viola at the Hochschule für Musik in Nuremberg and since August 2017 also solo violist of the Staatskapelle Dresden.

Anke Heyn

Ihr Musikstudium absolvierte Anke Heyn bei Martin Ostertag in Karlsruhe und Jens Peter Maintz in Berlin. Sie erhielt verschiedene Auszeichnungen und Preise bei zahlreichen Wettbewerben, u.a. bei »Jugend musiziert«, dem Tonkünstlerwettbewerb sowie dem Kammermusikwettbewerb der Alice-Samter-Stiftung in Berlin. Ebenso war sie Finalistin beim Deutschen Musikwettbewerb in Bonn. Darüber hinaus war Anke Heyn Stipendiatin der Jürgen-Ponto-Stiftung, der Villa musica und der Landessammlung für Streichinstrumente Baden-Württemberg.

Erste Orchestererfahrung sammelte Anke Heyn im Bundesjugendorchester, im Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchester sowie im European Union Youth Orchestra. Nach einem Praktikum beim SWR Sinfonieorchester Baden-Baden und Freiburg hatte sie einen Jahresvertrag bei den Münchner Philharmonikern und war häufige Aushilfe beim DSO Berlin. Seit April 2006 ist sie festes Mitglied der Sächsischen Staatskapelle Dresden.
 
Ihre große Begeisterung gilt seit langem der Kammermusik: Sie konzertierte als Solocellistin vom Ensemble Oriol Berlin und der Kammerakademie Potsdam. Neben ihrer Orchestertätigkeit in der Staatskapelle Dresden  ist sie als Mitglied der Dresden Group und des Ensemble Bento in verschiedenen Formationen zu hören.

Andreas Ehelebe

Andreas Ehelebe was born in Wernigerode in 1994. He received his first double bass lessons at the age of eleven and was initially trained by Andreas Nettels and Prof. Frithjof- Martin Grabner, during his studies then by Prof. Dorin Marc at the Nuremberg University of Music. He also received important impulses as an academist in the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, where Janne Saksala was his mentor.

Andreas gained his first orchestral experience in the state and national youth orchestras, and later in the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, the Orchestra Academy of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra. Today he is a welcome guest of numerous top orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the BR, SWR, NDR and MDR Symphony Orchestras, the Bamberg Symphony, the Munich Philharmonic, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin.

At the German Music Competition 2015, Andreas was awarded a scholarship and participated in the Federal Selection Concerts of Young Artists in

the 2016/2017 season. He also received 1st prize and the audience prize at the International Lake Constance Music Competition Überlingen 2015 and at the International Instrumental Competition Markneukirchen 2017. At the 2018 International Johann Matthias Sperger Competition, Andreas was also awarded a first prize, along with several special prizes. Andreas is supported by the Märkische Kulturkonferenz, the Richard-Wagner Verband, the Peter Pirazzi Foundation, the Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation, the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes and the Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz.

Since 2020, he has played as principal double bass in the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, where he is also active as a pedagogue in the Giuseppe Sinopoli Academy. In addition, he has been teaching at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy" Leipzig since 2022 as part of a teaching assignment.

From October 2023 Andreas Ehelebe will teach as a professor at the Rostock University of Music and Drama.

Andreas Kißling

Principal Flute

At the age of nine Andreas Kißling received his first lessons on the flute at a music school in the town of Göppingen. He went on to study at Berlin’s University of the Arts under Roswitha Staege and Karlheinz Zoeller. In 2006 he took third prize at the Aurèle Nicolet Competition in Beijing. While still a student, Andreas Kißling was principal flautist of the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra and the Deutsche Radio Philharmonic Orchestra of Saarbrücken and Kaiserslautern, and sub-principal flautist of the State Opera in Stuttgart. Since February 2011 he has been principal flautist of the Staatskapelle Dresden.

Zusätzlich zu seiner Tätigkeit im Orchester ist regelmäßig als Kammermusiker und Solist zu hören, wie zum Beispiel bei der Deutschen Erstaufführung des 2. Flötenkonzertes von Mieczysław Weinberg mit der Sächsischen Staatskapelle Dresden im Februar 2017. Inspiration findet er in Reisen mit dem Orchester oder auch privat, durch Filme, Kunst, jeglicher Art von Musik und vor allem im Austausch mit Freunden, Kollegen und auf Reisen im Kennenlernen anderer Menschen und Kulturen.

Andreas Kißling spielt eine 18 Karat Goldflöte von Muramatsu und für ausgewählte Programme Alter Musik eine Holzflöte von Harry Gosse.

Helmut Fuchs, born in1984 in Oberndorf bei Salzburg, started his education at the age of six with trumpet lessons at the Musikschulwerk Salzburg with Martin Mühlfellner. In 2001 he switched to Igor Oder with whom he was also studying during his time at the Militärmusik Salzburg (20013-2004). In 2004 he started his trumpet studies at the Mozarteum University Salzburg with Gottfried Menth. In 2005 he carried on at the University of Music and the performing Arts Vienna and studied with Josef Pomberger. In addition to his education as a concert instrumentalist he also studied instrumental education. He finished both studies in 2009/2012 with honours.

Already during his studies up until now he is substituting in some of the most prestigious orchestras of Austria (like the Orchestra of the Vienna State Opera, the Vienna Philharmonics, the Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich, the Vienna Symphonics, the Bruckner Orchester Linz as well as the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg).

In 2014 he joined the Opera de Nice as trumpeter and since 2016 he is Solo trumpeter at the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden.

Balázs Demény

Balázs Demény ist ein aus Transilvanien stammender junger Pianist, der in den letzten vergangenen Jahren eine vielversprechende Karriere in der klassischen Musikszene verzeichnen konnte. Er ist der erster Preisträger der Hans von Bülow, Ile de France, Lagny-sur-Marne und Carl Filtsch Internationaler Klavierwettbewerben, sowie der ISA Prag-Wien-Budapest (2012, Pianistenpreis) und zweiter Preisträger des Internationalen Chopin Wettbewerbs in Budapest. Diese und weitere Erfolge wurden mit dem Junior Prima Prize ausgezeichnet (2018), welcher für hervorragende künstlerische Leistungen verliehen wird. Er ist Solist in Residence beim

Staatlichen Orchester Dinu Lipatti in Satu-Mare (Rumänien) und verfügt über ein breites Repertoire an Klavierkonzerten, mit denen er bereits über 70 Mal europaweit aufgetreten ist. Er trat als Solist in renommierten Konzertsälen Europas auf, wie dem Gasteig München, der Salle Molière in Lyon, dem Liszt Festival in Raiding, dem Palast der Künste in Budapest (Müpa), der Liszt Akademie in Budapest, dem Athenäum in Bukarest sowie in der Konzertreihe Yokohama International Piano Concert Series in Yokohama und vielen anderen.
