At the annual press conference held today, Christian Thielemann and the Staatskapelle Dresden presented their plans for the 2020/2021 season. In addition to a Strauss cycle with Principal Conductor Christian Thielemann and concerts with Principal Guest Conductor Myung-Whun Chung and Conductor Laureate Herbert Blomstedt, Sir András Schiff will appear several times in Dresden as the 472-year-old orchestra’s new Artist-in-Residence. The post of Composer-in-Residence will be held posthumously by Giuseppe Sinopoli, the Staatskapelle’s former Principal Conductor.
