Kay Mitzscherling
Assistant Concertmaster
Kay Mitzscherling, born in 1975, received his first violin lessons at the age of eight at the Paul Büttner Music School in Dresden. He continued his musical education at the Saxon Special School of Music Carl Maria von Weber Dresden, where he was taught by Klaus Hoene and Professor Heinz Rudolph.
From 1995 to 2001, he studied violin at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music Dresden in the class of Prof Reinhard Ulbricht.
Kay Mitzscherling already worked as a substitute with the Staatskapelle Dresden during his studies. After two consecutive one-year contracts, he became a permanent member of the 2nd violin section in 2002. He has held the position of deputy concertmaster since 2018. He was also a member of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra from 2011 to 2019.
