Jakob Andert
Jakob Andert was born in Berlin in 1972. Attending a special school for music, a career in music was already apparent in his childhood. He took his first cello lessons with Andreas Greger and completed his studies at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music. He gained his first orchestral experience as a substitute with the Staatskapelle Berlin.
In 1994, he transferred to the Karlsruhe University of Music to study with Martin Ostertag. Four years later, he moved to Dresden, where he studied with Peter Bruns at the Dresden University of Music from 1998 to 2002.
Jakob Andert has been a member of the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden since 1999. In addition to his work with the Staatskapelle, chamber music plays an important role in his career: for example, he participated in the Academy of the Ensemble Intercontemporain Paris in 2001, the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival in 2002, the Academy ensemble recherche Freiburg in 2005, and masterclasses with Miklós Perényi (most recently in 2009).
