Born in Leipzig, Matthias Wilde received his decisive musical inspiration from Michael Sanderling in Frankfurt am Main, where he completed both his diploma and his concert examination in the soloist class. In addition to competition successes – including being a finalist in the German Music Competition in 2006 – orchestral playing shaped his musical career early on. In 2007, he was engaged as principal cellist at the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau, and since 2011 he has been a member of the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden.

Above all, it is his love of chamber music that defines his artistic work outside of his orchestral activities: He is a member of various chamber music ensembles, most notably TrioSono and Ensemble International, and performs regularly throughout Germany and Europe.

TrioSono collaborated with MDR Figaro to record a CD of piano trios by Joseph Haydn, August Klughardt and Friedrich Schneider, which was released by the Genuin label in 2016.

Matthias Wilde is also the founder of the Anhalt Chamber Music Days, a now renowned chamber music festival under the patronage of Menahem Pressler, Hans-Dietrich Genscher (†) and Edda Darboven. He was the artistic director of the festival until 2015.
