Manuel Westermann

Manuel Westermann, born in Bielefeld in 1985, completed his studies at the Berlin University of the Arts under David Punto and Thomas Lutz. While still a student, he was awarded a scholarship to study at the Orchestra Academy of the Berlin State Opera and subsequently became principal timpanist with the Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra.

Manuel Westermann has been principal timpanist of the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden since November 2014.

Regular guest engagements take him to the state operas in Berlin, Hamburg, and Munich. Since 2019, he has been a visiting professor of timpani at the Berlin University of the Arts.
