Anja Krauß was born in Dresden and grew up in a family of musicians. She received her first violin lessons at the age of four. She received her further training at the Dresden Music School, the Special School of Music Dresden and the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music Dresden. She owes much of her musical influence to her teachers Prof Reinhard Ulbricht and Prof Peter Mirring. She received further musical impulses from Prof Thomas Brandis (Berlin) and Ivry Gitlis (Paris). She gained important experience in orchestral playing outside the Staatskapelle during her training in the European Union Youth Orchestra and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France Paris, where she played as a permanent substitute during a sabbatical period in 2003/2004.

During her training, she won prizes at national and international competitions - both as a soloist and as a chamber musician. Chamber music has played a major role since her childhood: today she follows paths outside the classical repertoire with the string quartet ‘Tangente Quattro’. Anja Krauß was initially engaged as a substitute with the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden from 1994. She has been a permanent member of the 1st violins since 1997. From 2016 to 2019, she was a member of the 1st violins of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra.
