Olaf-Torsten Spies

Olaf-Torsten Spies, born in Dresden, received his first violin lessons at the age of four. He studied music in his home town and in Munich.

Before joining the Sächsische Staatskapelle, he was initially a substitute with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra and from 1990 to 1993 with the MDR Symphony Orchestra Leipzig.

Olaf-Torsten Spies has played in the 2nd violin section of the Staatskapelle Dresden since 1993. In addition to his orchestral activities, he also performs as a member of various chamber music formations.
