Astrid von Brück

Growing up in a family of musicians in Berlin, Astrid von Brück received her first piano lessons at the age of six. She attended a special school and later studied harp (with Prof. Siegfried Weinberger) and piano at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin. At the age of 23, she became principal harpist of the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, of which she is still a member today.

In addition to her work in Dresden, Astrid von Brück completed a master class at the Munich University of Music with Prof. Helga Storck and spent several months studying with Susann McDonald in Bloomington, Indiana. In 1994 and 1997, she played in the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra.

She is a prize winner of the international competitions “Louise Charpentier” Paris 1988 and Soka/Japan 1995.

As a soloist and chamber musician, Astrid von Brück is constantly expanding her repertoire. She has been a guest at the Moritzburg Festival on several occasions. She also teaches at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden, which appointed her professor in 2012, and was a visiting professor at the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo for several years.
