Bernhard Kury

Born in Trieben, Austria, in 1966, Bernhard Kury studied under Gottfried Hechtl at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz and physics at the Technical University. In 1992, he completed a further year of study with Wolfgang Schulz in Vienna and, in 1997, began additional studies (concert exam) at the Berlin University of the Arts under Roswitha Staege, graduating with honors.
 

He was a member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and, after engagements with the RSB Berlin (1993/94) and the Dresden Philharmonic (1995-1998), is now deputy principal flutist of the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden. Since 2001, he has held a teaching position at the Dresden University of Music and, from 2005, was also a member of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra for several years.
