Christian Langer

Born in 1969 in Borna near Leipzig, Christian Langer began taking drum lessons at the age of twelve. He continued his training at the Special School for Music in Halle and studied under Karl Mehlig at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music in Leipzig from 1987 to 1991.

He got his first job as a percussionist in 1990 at the Chemnitz City Theater. From 1991, he performed as principal timpanist with the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra in Chemnitz. Christian Langer has been deputy principal timpanist with the Dresden Staatskapelle since 1999.
