Johanna Schellenberger

Johanna Schellenberger received her first harp lessons at the age of five from her mother, the harpist Prof. Margit Anna Süß. Early successes in her childhood enabled her to study at the State University for Music and Theater in Munich with Prof. Cristina Bianchi, where she subsequently completed her studies. She also worked with musical personalities such as Prof. Marie-Pierre Langlamet, Gael Gandino and Prof. Maurice Bourgue.

During the 2017/18 season, she was an academist with the Bavarian State Orchestra and was engaged as a principal harpist at the Tiroler Landestheater in the summer of 2018. She has performed with the Orchestre National de France, the Camerata Salzburg, the Bavarian State Orchestra, and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, among others, under conductors such as Kirill Petrenko, Daniele Gatti, Yannick Nezet-Seguin, and Christian Thielemann. She has performed at the Vienna Musikverein, the Royal Albert Hall, the great Festspielhaus Salzburg and many more.

As a soloist and chamber musician, Johanna Schellenberger is particularly committed to cross-artistic projects, with the aim of creating new spaces for the listener to understand music. Thus, she recently put a cabaret on stage and developed concert programs with drama and expressive dance.

She has performed at numerous festivals, including the Moritzburg Festival and the Middelburg Music Festival (NL).

Since 2020 she has been the principal harpist of the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden.
