Moritz Pettke

Moritz Pettke, born in Erfurt in 1996, has been playing the clarinet since he was seven years old. He won prizes in various competitions while still a teenager. From 2011 to 2015, he attended the special music program at Landesschule Pforta.

He studied under Harald Harrer at the Leopold Mozart Center at the University of Augsburg and at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar in Thorsten Johanns' class. In 2017, Moritz Pettke became an academician for bass clarinet/clarinet at the Theater Erfurt. During this time, his interest in the low-pitched instruments of the clarinet family grew, and in October 2019 he was able to further specialize at the Giuseppe Sinopoli Academy of the Staatskapelle Dresden. Since August 2021, Moritz Pettke has been principal bass clarinetist of the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden.

He is also interested in chamber music and 20th-century music.
