Volker Stegmann

Volker Stegmann, born in Zwickau, studied at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music in Leipzig after completing his apprenticeship as a guitar maker in Markneukirchen. He received his first engagement as principal trumpeter in 1989 at the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra in Chemnitz, and in 1994 he moved to the Saxon State Orchestra in Dresden as deputy principal trumpeter.

In addition to his work in the orchestra, Volker Stegmann performs chamber music in the ensembles “Virtuosi Saxoniae,” the “Ludwig Güttler Brass Ensemble,” and the “Dresden Trumpet Consort.” His activities also include CD, radio, and television productions, as well as concert tours that take him to many parts of Europe, North and South America, as well as Asia.
