Program and casting change for the symphony concert N° 4

Tugan Sokhiev & David Afkham take over for Christian Thielemann
08.11.2022

Due to a long-lasting shoulder injury, Christian Thielemann was forced to resign at short notice from conducting the symphony concert N° 4 with the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden. However, two different conductors will take over for the concerts in Dresden. The symphony concert at the Semperoper on November 13th will be conducted by Tugan Sokhiev with a different program: Ludwig van Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D major and Johannes Brahms' First Symphony. In the following concerts on November 14th and 15th, David Afkham will take the podium of the Staatskapelle and will conduct Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s overture “The Hebrides“, his Violin Concerto and the “Scottish“ Symphony, on commemoration of the 175th anniversary of his passing. In both programs, the audience can look forward to the world-renowned soloist and current Artist-in-Residence Julia Fischer.
